Privacy Policy
The Lindy Library is a reading catalogue, not a data business. This page explains plainly what is collected, why, and what choices you have.
1. Who we are
The Lindy Library is operated by Juan Suero. If you have questions about this policy, write to thejuansuero@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information. We do not sell data. The only information processed is as follows:
3. Functional cookies
When you visit the site for the first time, a short animation plays. Two small cookies are set to ensure the animation does not play on every single visit:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| splash_visits | Counts how many sessions have seen the intro animation (max 3) | 1 year |
| splash_this_session | Prevents the animation replaying on page reload within the same session | When browser closes |
These cookies contain no personal information, are not shared with third parties, and serve no purpose beyond controlling whether the opening animation plays. They are strictly functional and do not require consent under current interpretations of the ePrivacy Directive.
4. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors navigate the library — which books are read most, how long people stay, and where they arrive from. This helps us improve the catalogue.
Google Analytics sets cookies that may identify your browser across sessions and sends usage data to Google's servers. Under GDPR, this requires your consent if you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland.
We will ask for your consent before activating analytics cookies. You may accept or decline using the cookie preference banner at the bottom of the page. Declining does not affect your ability to use the library.
Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Google Search Console
We verify site ownership with Google Search Console to monitor how the library appears in search results. Search Console does not set any cookies on your device and processes only aggregated search data that Google already collects independently.
6. Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may retain standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — for up to 30 days for security and reliability purposes. These logs are not used for profiling or marketing.
7. Your rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Given that we collect almost none, the most practical action is to clear your browser cookies, which removes all locally stored data immediately. For any other requests, contact us at the address above.
8. How to delete your cookies
In most browsers: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies. You may also delete individual cookies through the browser's developer tools (Application → Cookies → select this site).
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively erode your privacy or introduce tracking without notice.
